Scope rings

Post by sdsviper on Thu Nov 11, 2010 12:57 pm

I have a mini 14 ranch in .223 the factory rings are 1.025". They will not hold a 1" scope. I would like input on the best way to fix this. A little foil, shim, friction paper or should I lap the faces with some fine grit sand paper? Any help is welcome. confused

Maybe you could you wrap a piece of electrical tape around the scope to act as a shim.

Small piece of masking tape on either the top or bottom portion of the rings or both. Don't put the tape on the scope. Electrical tape will work too, But it tends to become gooey

I'd call Ruger and make em send you a new set.

If they're not the ruger style and rather the weaver style (Idk your specific gun very well). If they're weaver, I have a pair of ~1" that I'd give you for free.

The above options sound good. I've had to shim them in the past. Results were questionable though.

Good luck!
