Stock repair

Post by RemMan700 on Thu Jul 12, 2012 8:50 am

I did a little stock repair to my old Marlin 336 SC. The rear receiver screw goes through the upper and lower receiver bands which sandwich the grip of the rear stock. I noticed the wood where the receiver screw goes through was cracked and missing wood. I bought some J-B Weld Kwik Wood which is a two part epoxy putty. I figured it would be easier to work with to fill the crack/void then a liquid epoxy would be. So far I am pleased with how the putty has worked out. You just cut off a slice of putty and knead it till it is a uniform color. Then you just press it into place and it sets in about 30 minutes. Now I just need to do some sanding and re-drill some of the receiver hole out.
