http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carcano
Until 1938, all M91 rifles and carbines were chambered for the rimless 6.5×52mm Modello 1895 cartridge, using a round-nose metal case bullet of 160 grains weight at approximately 2,000-2,400 ft/s muzzle velocity, depending upon barrel length. At least one small arms authority noted inconsistencies in powder types in arsenal-loaded 6.5×52mm military ammunition, often with different powder types and ammunition lots intermixed within a single clip of ammunition.[1] The practice of intermixing powder types and ammunition lots in clipped rifle ammunition was generally avoided by arsenals of other nations, as it generally resulted in varying bullet velocities and excessive bullet dispersion on the target.

Nice old rifle....How does the inside of the barrel look?

do you plan on loading up some light (safe) loads and shooting it? What's the availability of brass in that caliber?

dartfreak75,
make sure that you slug the bore of the barrel before shooting it. a lot of the barrels on Carcano rifles are over size and slug out at .268 or larger. factory 6.5 jacketed bullets are .264. Hornady was making a 6.5 .268 dia. jacketed bullet just for these over sized bores. don't know if they still do. if you do find the Hornady bullets in .268 you have to use Hornady's reloading data with these bullets. i used a worn out contender barrel and made a stub out of it and then threaded a 6.5 barrel on to it and then chambered it for the 6.5 Carcano round for use on my Contender. the barrel is 12.5 inches long. if you plan to reload for this caliber forgo the Lee dies and spring for the Redding Die set. there is a difference. HTH.
