Well how the heck are ya Blade? Good to see you came over for a visit, hope you can stay awhile and hang out with us.
Long time no see, tell us about that critter in your avatar. Did you get it with some of your handloads? What caliber, and just exactly what do you call that particular beast? It looks cool as hell, I want one! Cool

Thanks for the welcoming guys, i appreciate it Very Happy

Mohunter: That would be a gemsbok. Unfortunately i shot it with the Farm manger's .308, at 110yards with a 4x32 scope ... lol

That was my first hunt and also the only one so far Sad Hopefully the next hunt will be with my own .308 (waiting for the license to be approved), one thing is for sure though... this won't be my last one.

Waiting on the license to be approved?? What a crock!
My hunting license is approved the second I clear the door at Walmart! LOL
Man, I hate it for you all in the UK........it must really suck Big Time!
At least you can reload your own ammo, some guys in other countries like Greece can't even do that.
I want a Gemsbok.......and will likely never make it to Africa to get one, so consider yourself lucky in that respect my friend. Shoot me a water buffalo, a lion, and a gazell and tell them Mohunter sent ya! Cool

I've started with the whole licensing "bleep" since June 2007, by obtaining my competency certificate which almost took 2 years to get and THEN i was allowed to start the application for a firearm(s). They've already lost my .22LR application papers twice and maybe for a third time now... luckily i did manage to get a temporary license for my .22 , which took about 3 month's. Thank god they aren't full of it when it comes to reloading (yet...) lol. Not like the people in Greece though. That must be bad.

Lion hunting, well that's a different story, it's not acutely legal to shoot them. I personally wont shoot those magnificent creatures, nor a leopard, only if someones life depended on it. A water buffalo may be a bit tricky to kill, you will need a .308 solid or a bigger caliber to kill it and just hope the bullets doesn't bounce off his horns. The gazell (also known as a springbok over here) is very common over here and is easily killed with a .223 or .243, the gemsbok is a bit scares near the south of south africa, you will find them near the middle of south africa or higher up. Mine i shot was in Namibia, hence the reason why i had to use the manager's gun. But I'll remember to mention it to the gazelle Mo sent me Very Happy
