My .224 die set is on its way

Post by Reload3006 on Sun Dec 05, 2010 9:54 am

I'm totally amped. Got an Email from Richard Corbin. My die set and rim fire jacket making set is on its way. I checked my credit card and he has charged it so I know its on its way. Last week I figured that it was getting close so I bought a box of 22 cal jackets form Sierra. Went to Walmart yesterday and bought a Flambau plastic box that's supposed to have a corrosion preventive stuff in the plastic to put it all in. I'll get some pics and hopefully when i figure out how to use it all maybe do a video. I also have a 44 cal set coming from Larry Blackmon. We will see if i can adapt it all to my walnut hill I figure if I cant I will order his ram adapter kit for my rock chucker. I will let y'all know about that too.

That's great news...I took your advice and contacted him. He replied with a nice email and plenty of info for me. He doesn't make the swage dies for standard reloading presses, but referred me to other company's that do. What type of business does that? He does, because he isn't worried about the competition....his press and comparable dies are more affordable and of equal or of higher quality than the others. I can trust a guy like that!

Now all I need to do is sell a kidney and a eye and I'll be all set.

LOL Hawcer I don't know anyone personally looking for a Kidney but if you have a good reloading press and don't think you will be doing much jacket drawing. his sea girt press is lots cheaper. Just going from my Walnut Hill press you will not be disappointed with the quality. and If you sell an eye you won't see the difference. Shocked Troll

I'd rather sell my family jewels since I don't use them anyway. Wonder what I could get for my left one? Shocked
I doubt that I'd get enough to pay the postage? Neutral

oh yea I can't attest for the quality. I soon will because I have his 44 cal Nosler JHP style bullet die set on order. But Larry Blackmon has a swaging press for 150 dont know what its like the pics in the flyer he has isn't very good. But I have talked to Mr Blackmon on the phone he is very personable this is a hobby business for him. But he has the best prices out there bar none. and he in my opnion is very honest. he also has a O style reloading press conversion kit he sells. For the RCBS RockChucker press he has a kit he sells for 95.00 if a person really wanted to get into swaging and was on a very limited budget I would consider Larry Blackmon the "Lee Precision" of bullet swaging. check him out

Its here just got back from the farm and sitting on my front porch was a package from Richard Corbin. I still haven't got my rim fire die but my rebated boat tail 8s lead tip die set is here. a total of 5 dies 8 external punches. 6 ejector punches. i would say i more than got my $824 since I am a machinist I know what all is involved in making them looks to be great quality and a reasonable price. 70.00 that does sound like a lot and i guess it is. But Corbin i think is like 38.00 for 250 and so far those two are the only place ive been able to find any recently. So i figure 70. was a bargain. His Die prices are very reasonable too.

some .224 bullets I just swaged with my new Richard Corbin Set. I dont like the outcome of the lead tipping die but over all not bad for a first attempt. they are 65 grainers 8s spitzer.
