Hello Daywalker, I was watching you vids on youtube on swaging 22lr brass for .223 bullets. Do you have more vids on the making of the bullet? Putting the lead core in and forming the bullet? Thanks Cowboy

No sorry Cowboy. Improving the Lee Die turned out to be a failure as the cases were coming out a bit bigger. I turned to making a die from scratch and had it good. Got the Reamer and Laps, however the lap was a bit too big and I did not catch it in time, long story short, I enlarged the hole too big. So I am sending this lap back, hopefully get the right one, ordering some 4140 pre hard bar stock and then turn another de rim die and get ithat right.

I have not even began to make the core swage, core seat or point forming die as yet...

Welocome to the Forum! Glad to have ya. Looking foward to socializing with you as I am sure everyone else will also...

Thanks for getting back to me Daywalker. I want to swag my own bullets and I am looking for a inexpensive rout. The corbin dies as you now are expensive. Do you know of any one else that make swaging dies for the .223? I know ch4d makes swaging dies, but not for .223. Thanks

.224 swage question

Post by Daywalker on Tue Feb 22, 2011 5:35 pm

You could check and see if Dr. Larry Blackmon does. I can get you the number, but I have to dig for it. Reload3006 or BillArrington, if they see this before I can get back, they could prob help you on Mr Blackmons number. Other than that, not really...

I was really hoping to have all my stuff done and available, being out of work and the wife trying to start up her own business and getting ready to leave her job, has put a big strain on the extra money I had to spend on reamers and laps...

Anyhow, let me see what I can dig up for ya...

.224 Swage Question

Post by Daywalker on Tue Feb 22, 2011 8:09 pm

Yea, unfortunatly, Ch4d will not do .224's. Dave has told me it is just too hard and usually have more wasted stock from trying to make them with such a blind hole or something to that affect. They don't use reamers to make their dies, they bore them instead, which is easier on the bigger calibers.

Just what he told me, who knows the real reason LOL...
