ok, I may be out of place here. I never owned a 22 mag. However, knowing the history with the 2 you just posted, I would say your good with either one. Maybe Savage in line first??

I would prob try a savage....

Clearly not a professional opinion LOL

Bolt or semi?

I tend to lean in Savages direction nowadays...

I've always been a Ruger man, but my Ruger 10/22 has been nothing but a disappointment. so I would definitely say bolt action, leaning slightly more towards Savage.

I have a Ruger 77/22 in .22 Mag (.22 K-Hornet as well) that I had Connecticut Precision Chambering fix the bolt, set the barrel back and recrown.

It is a real tack driver, but for the money I have invested you could buy the Browning T-bolt Travis mentioned and not have to get the rifle "tuned" up.

I've been really pleased with it and it is a real coyote nailer within 200 yards. It does not bark as bad as some of the larger rifle rounds which keeps me from pissing the neighbors off.

What's wrong with your 10/22? Nobody in the history of the world ever had trouble with a 10/22. So what's up?

+2 on the Marlin 22 Magnum, I purchased mine in 1986 , and still it shoot well. It seems to favor CCI ammo.
